That is one of the more common varieties. In that condition I'd guess it should sell for around $175-$200.
Does anybody know much about these Pillar Dollars? I am thinking of acquiring one tomorrow that a guy claims he dug here locally. Its in very nice condition, but worn for its age, looks nice and has a nice feel to it. He wants $250 and I would say the condition is closer to this one: Would that be a fair price especially considering it was a local find (hes found 3 over the years, and I have little reason to doubt his story as he has tons of civil war stuff hes found over the years for sale as well, so he appears to be legit about his digging/detecting finds)
That price seems to be the average price for that grade, so it's no bargain. Compare to other offers on eBay and see if it's worth it for you. No rush.
I just wanted to make sure I was in range. All of eBays 1752s are between $300-$500 except for one at $250. But also none of eBays coins were found in my home town, plus I also get the chance to possibly trade this guy some old bottles for this coin so I'm pretty sure it's a sweet deal either way for me. I was really just looking around for advice and any problems to look for I appreciate the reply tho. Oh and I really like this coin, I live the scalloped edge around it, feels really cool when you're holding it
Two problems - 1 - you say the coin in question is similar to the one you pictured, but it NOT the one you pictured. That means the coin could have problems and it may very well not be worth the asking price. 2 - you say the coin was dug. That means it was in the ground for who knows how long and that it almost certainly has at least some if not a lot of corrosion. That most definitely would make it a problem coin. And thus not worth the asking price. My advice, pass on the coin.
