Won this one several months ago. It is so beautiful a coin that I want to share it here. Since I have tried but failed in better pics, I have to borrow the seller's nice shots.
It is an official restrike 1750 Netherlands 14 Gulden "Golden Rider". This proof coin was issued in 1963 to mark the 200th anniversary of the last date of issue of the 14 Gulden coin. I think these 14 Gulden coins are among the most beautiful dutch gold coins ever issued.

One of my favorite designs as well, though I was unaware that they issued a modern re-strike.

No, it wasn't. I've seen that same coin as a restrike at a local shop here but I would have sworn it was in silver and not gold. That one was also a restrike but I thought it was restruck in 1960 so perhaps it was a differnet coin. The design was nearly identical though which is why we were looking at it - I love that coin.

Thank you for posting the one you have.

Can these modern 1960 restrikes be mistaken for the original 1750 issues?

Not if you look at them with some background knowledge. The originals do not have the fish/caduceus mintmarks. Also the shield under the galloping horse is different.

Greetings from the US. I have a 1700 14 G from my mother inlaw who has since passed. It is in near perfect condition so I would imagine that makes it a restrike? For my reference what might the value be? THank you.
