Hello, I just received a bunch of medals and tokens today. One was a interesting small gold colored coin of a ship. When researching the coin/token sites like Numista, Yale and ect, said it was from the 1700's from France.

Is this coin valid from 1700's France and is there any value.

    Thank You, Steve

I saw that to but the wording on that coin is CHR.LAUER and mine is CH.LAUER. Would that make it a jetons? A little confusing when I researched it. Either way its's cool and to me. Numista had a contest called the CONCOURS on the same coin spelling as mine. That is why I thought it was from France.

    Thank for the help.

Not quite. This is a rechenpfennig, or jeton, that was made in Nuremburg by Ch. Lauer. The Lauer family produced hundreds of varieties of these tokens over the centuries. They were originally to be used on the counting table, like the beads of an abacus, but over time came to be more like little political medals.
