Here is one I picked up yesterday from a seller in Lithuania, but have to wait for delivery. This was just two years before the Turks were defeated outside the gates of Vienna.
You are showing a very interesting coin here, Bonedigger! This is a pre-Prussian issue, as it was issued for the electorate of Brandenburg. The kingdom of Prussia came into being in 1701. This coin is in Krause as Brandenburg KM#429. It was minted at the Königsberg Mint, what we can see at the mintmasters initials H.S. for Heinrich Sievertz, who was mintmaster of Königsberg 1674-77; 79-85 and 1687-94. Königsberg was the capital city of East-Prussia and is now known as Kaliningrad. It is now the capital of the Kaliningrad Oblast, a Russian enclave within the E.U. The legend says: Friedrich Wilhelm, by the grace of God margrave of Brandenburg, arch-chamberlain and prince-elector of the Holy Roman Empire. On the revers it says: highest duke in Prussia. A really nice coin.
Bart, Thank you so much for the information. Acquiring odd and obscure coinage is and has always be a penchant of mine. Since, my Bust Half Dollar quest is almost finished, I've decided to post some of my unusual stuff. as well as continue to acquire it. Thanks for taking a look. Ben
