I just came into posession of a coin, and was just wondering if i could get any info about it. It has missing letters, and it seems to be in pretty bad condition its hard to read it, on one side it has 1652 and under it, theres a XII. It is dotted around the 1652 XIII, and it says new england andum or something. On the opposite side it looks like it would spell Massachusetts maybe? the middle is also dotted and inside it has a picture of something like a tree, but it looks bad so its hard to tell, but here is where my hopes fail, it says copy real small next to the picture lol. Can anyone tell me about this coin? Oh and while im in this thread i might aswell ask about another coin i have. has 1890 at the bottom and has a vague picture of someone sitting on some sort of an object, looks like a wheel of some sort. The coin is VERY dark. On the opposite side is a picture of a female facing the left and on the sides it says: VICTORIA D:G: Other end of this side says: BRITT:REG:F: I found a picture for this second coin. http://www.ukcoinpics.co.uk/qv/fa/fa91.jpg
I am by no means an expert and don't usually find myself responding first to questions such as your since I leave that to our resident experts. As you have disappointedly discovered on your first coin, it is most like a very nice replica of the real thing... which of course is probably worth thousands of dollars. As far as the exact coin you are looking at.... this is where the colonial experts would have to come in and share their thoughts. Sounds like an early colonial era coin and may even be found in a red book. As far as your second coin goes..... I even have that coin and many others like it. I know it is from Britain, and that a farthing is about one fourth of a penny. I know I am not much help, but at least it will get you started. Welcome to CT and hope to see you stop around again.
No idea about the first coin sorry but the second is a British farthing from the reign of Queen Victoria and the person on the front is a dipiction of Britannia :smile not a very valuble coin unfortunatly but a nice one to have if you were to start collecting British pre decimal coins  Oh and please dont clean the farthing that would lower what value it has concidrably :rolling: If you want to know more about the farthing check this site out :kewl: http://www.aboutfarthings.co.uk/Farthing - 1890.html
IS this a joke posting? The New England shilling would be worth a few bucks, if it doesn't say copy on it. [just kidding, but I doubt that this is for real.]
okay, so it is a New England shilling, value? Without seeing it, assume worst condition: minimum of say $500 to a whole lot, depending on the variety. So, lets see pictures. However, there are TONS of copies, so don't get excited yet.
