I think this is a Prussian/German 15 Kreuzer. It's in pretty good shape for being almost 400 years old. Just think about all the history it's been part of. If you have any further information please don't be shy.

    Thanks for looking

The Instant Identifier section in the 17th Century 2d Ed. shows the two-headed eagle - but with different chest arms than yours - for the German States of Friedberg, Jever, the Bishiporic of Lubeck, and Schwarzburg-Sondershausen. I didn't see your coin in any of those listings. [IMG]

With 131 pages of Austrian/Austrian States coins, and 522 pages of German States, I haven't searched out all possibilities, so we'll just have to wait for an expert on German State coinage of the early 17th Century.

    BTW - nice coin. :D

It's German from Nurnberg (it says Norimberg on it). It's a 15 Kreuzer (K XV on the obverse).

Krause lists it as KM #60 (page 641 in the newest edition). Cats for $30 in VF.
