Hello everyone I got this coin which I dont know where it is from: Obs: ALBERTUS ET ELISABETH - 1609 Rev: SERVAT . VIGILANTIA . REGNA I attached pictures, can anyone help me identify it please ? Thanks in advance
Spanish netherlands jeton of Albert and Elizabeth, Albert being Archduke Albert of Austria, Count of Flanders. Albert governed the Spanish Netherlands on behalf of Phillip III of Spain. This jeton of yours is scarce. it is in pretty beat up condition but still rather scarce. I have no idea what it might be worth to a collector of these items. There were two types, the brass one (which yours appears to be), and a bimetallic one (brass outer ring with a red copper inner. If it had been the bimetallic one it would have been worth maybe $100 in that condition. It appears to me that it is the brass one however. If you check out the following it will show you the bimetallic one. Although not your one, the data provided concerning reason for mintage and history are the same. http://www.cgb.fr/monnaies/vso/v11/gb/monnaiesgb3218.html?depart=914&nbfic=2499 Hope that helps
