$1500 For A Clipped Coin?

Is this a case of someone getting caught up in the bidding or am I missing something? Isn't this just a fairly common clipped error?

i thought it might have been something like
a 1983 2 pence with the word new instead of two

Some clips sell for that much if they're on a trade dollar or gold coin or something like that.
