https://www.archaeology.org/issues/503-2303/digs/11211-england-harpole-treasure I thought this was really interesting, how far back turning coins into jewelry goes. Somebody around 700 CE ruined the collector value.
Merely as a display of status/wealth I suppose some random gold coins fit. However, I suspect the coins themselves might have had significance, considering they are Roman and she is speculated to have been an early Christian leader. I'm not smart enough to ID the coins though. Two of them appear to be the same - is there anything significant to the early church regarding them, like the ruler or date?
