I have a United States silver dollar coin that is dated 1896. It has the United States motto " E Pluribus Unum" engraved on it. I was wondering how much this coin is currently worth.
condition condition condition. pictures would help. "base value" and by that i mean its silver content - about 9$. although if its in good condition, maybe more.
Okay, I just found out that it was a Morgan dollar. Does that give it more value? Or is it still priced the same.
a one dollar coin from 1896 HAS to be a morgan dollar. so no. still the same silver content. a picture would help a lot as to a more exact price.
Kevin: There are many things that establish value, including condition, date fo the coin and whether or not there is a mintmark.
these are just some basic prices. 1896-$18, 1896O-$20, 1896S-$60. like i said, these are just basic prices out of the redbook. redbook prices are usually high. a dealer would pay about half for these. the mintmark is on the back, just below the eagle. like i said a dealer would generally give half of this. hope that helps.:smile
