Does anyone know what the dime on penny denomination errors are selling for? I saw one at a coin show today and I was thinking of buying it tomorrow, but I'm not sure what a fair price is...
It can't be a dime struck on a cent, it would have to be a cent struck on a dime. Only one recent sale on ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Double-Deno...06?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item3a72f72b72 There were others listed at over a grand that didn't sell.
Funny that you mention that. Here is one I just bought today for $856 delivered. http://www.ebay.com/itm/110859161878?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
Don't spend over $3500 for one, that's all I can say. Honestly though, I value them at 11 cents since I'm not an error collector.
Honestly, must you continue with that? I have posted pictures of the same nickle at least 5 times, and have yet to have a complaint. I guess it is just the fact that he is so proud of it that you must complain and joke. He clearly has a right to show his coin which he loves in any thread that he sees fit. someone had to defend redwin
147 years death anniversary of assasinated (4-14-1865) 16th Pres. Abraham Lincoln. < Thank You. In every great collection there is also great stories behind it and my 1995 Penny on Dime is ONE of them and I also believed my 1995 Double Denomination Eleven cent is one of the very first certified by Accugrade and the rest followed by another TPG and certified it as cent on strike dime or others name because it did not reached on the all visible original strike of a cent or a dime such as follow Two Full dates obverse 1995,VDB,P Minntmark,Two IN GOD WE TRUST, Two LIBERTY,ONE CENT,ONE DIME, United States of America, E Plu and FG Initial, plus another attribution of Skull break and a crack die variety Obverse & Reverse, with a neat dime reeding plus a partial plain edge of a cent and most of it, A mirror like in some areas Obverse and Reverse. You can easily say that all common denomination the price range from 3 to 4 or 5 figures but this will depends on the dates and how it was called it on their slab by TPG. Mr. Alan Hager is clearly explained it to me after he certified my coin it does not need any numerical number such as MS++, So he called it as 1995 Penny On Dime-ACG-Mint. A super unique gem in any Doubled Denomination. Coin Fact Encyclopedia/Error : DOUBLE DENOMINATION ERRORS One of the most expensive, popular, and desired types of errors are the double denominations. This error happens when a coin is struck on a previously struck coin of another denomination. Examples are a cent on a struck dime, and a nickel on a struck cent. The most dramatic are those with considerable design visible from the original strike.
What I'm wondering is how people come to find these? Are they found in rolls of new dimes? In pocket change (I find that hardly likely)?
I looked at an MS66 piece today that was slabbed and had great details of both the cent and dime. He was asking $1600, he had a second one but it did not have the same amount of detail. Sorry I did not ask what he wanted for it.
