Please bare with me as i have not done this before but i greatly appreciate this informative groups opion. I like several others have ordered the anniversary gold eagle set with an expected Ship date of 11/06. In the event this is received, i really have some questions about what to do with it. (a) send it off to get graded probably NGC (b) leave in the box unopened and one day sell it or pass it on to my grandson. I do hate the thought of open it and finding the coins damage or a pair of dirty underware in there 10 years from now . I know the ms in the set could be far more valuable than orginally thought but i am not sure that is so important to me. (c) open it and enjoy it in its true beauity. Of the pictures i have seen, i like it its orginal box much more than its slabbed state. I may be jumping the gun on this but even if i do not get it i will always have a question about this. I would greatly appreciate any imput anyone would like to share thanks
Make sure you check the coins and are happy with the condition. It's pretty pointless to acquire coins that you cannot see or enjoy. This doesn't mean that you have to directly handle the coins. Whether or not to get them graded is a personal choice. I would leave them in the original mint packaging, which might add to the collectibility someday.
