SOOOO here's the contest scenario: After a long day of drinking with your buddies (national beer day), you get kidnapped. You are trapped in a basement. There are no windows but there is a door. The door is locked from the outside. The key is in a 1.5" pole staked into the concrete floor. The key is tied to a ping-pong ball at the bottom. You are equipped with a magnet, string and a paperclip. You may connect the magnet and paperclip in any way. How do you get the key out?

For one thing, a ping pong ball is 1.57 inches in diameter so it won't even fit in your 1.5" diameter (I'm assuming diameter when you say wide) pipe. Can the pipe be 2" in diameter instead? I'd feel much better about this problem.
Puke could also work, assuming you're the lightweight amongst your friends on this 'national beer day'
