LOL The most expensive note ever posted on CoinTalk . Not quite, but it still is a fun note to have. It's the highest single note ever printed in the world, so it has a little bit of history. It is also sad though to see how bad Zimbabwe's economy is doing, hopefully it turns around soon.

So here it is Drum Role please .......

They did the 100 trillion is from the 3rd series, the 4th series came out sometime in february. The new currency is normal 1s,5s,10s,50s,100s,500s. I believe they had to drop like 12 zeros of the old currency though .

I know the note is fun, but for anyone following the situation that caused these notes to arise, it is a failure of civilization and a display of cruelty that is causing that inflation rarely seen in human history.

Surprisingly enough the despot that makes all that possible is not so vain about his image that he wants it placed on all the money like some of the other African despots.

Zimbabwe truly used to be the Pearl of Africa, it was a self sustaining country when Mugabe became president on independence in 1980. Now they even have enormous toilet paper shortages. More serious is the fact that cholera and associated maladies have come back in a way not seen in quite a few years, killing thousands.

One of our club members did a presentation on hyperinflation recently and featured this note.

He also put one of the smaller denominations up for sale to benefit the club treasury-- I think it was a mere 100 billion dollars.

Of course you know I said, "You can do your own bailout with this!" :D

yeah - it is very sad and when I see notes like this as hobby pieces I'd just like people to recognize that this bill represents a lot of blood and death to civilizian populations.

but Ruben, when you buy notes like this off folks in Zibabwe, and they end up with alot more then face value for the notes... arent we not helping them? Not freeing them from the situation, but in a small way, we do help them.

you have a good point, but FWIW, I wasn't really shooting at that. i just want people to be aware that this note represents the severe suffering of the people of Zimbawe.

They change paper money more often than some change their undergarments. Currently unemployment is running along the lines of 80% - cholera is breaking out, influenza etc. It is a very sad state of affairs that behaviours like this still exist some 64 years after the end of WWII, when the world had to band together to fight these maniacal despots.

Yes - that is my point and there is almost nothing within reason that we can do about this as a nation or even individually.
