Just picked this one up today. I have found that it was printed in a run of 640,000 in Washington DC during January, 2010. I don't know what the B2 directly under the serial number means. Can someone answer that? Keeper? Thanks.
Your 2006 $100 Star note is from run #6, HB19200001*-HB19840000* (640,000) and the guide I use shows CH-CU to go for $165. The B2 is the district designation, (New York), which is also incorporated into the serial number, HB19696125*. I would keep this note. Nice pickup.
Thank you, Steve. I did not know about the district designation. Ironically, I got the note in change from a coin dealer.
Nice pickup! I'm thinknig that this note would grade in the Ch Cu, so the $165 is about right for value, although Steve can vouch for this, that value can be either inflated or undervalued based on who you ask. This happens a lot with higher denomination bills from recent runs. My coin dealer doesn't normally hold onto these, although as a star collector, I do. That may be why he just gave it back as change.
I wouldn't, but you will probably recieve different opinions on this subject. The key Star note for the series is run #4, HK* (Dallas), with only 96,000 printed. If you plan on selling/auctioning the note, then have it graded for sure. It helps build a purchasers confidence, may raise the price, (depending on grade), and helps protect the note.
