Found this today. SN 00022876*. Has a bank stamp (first union something, south street something else)on it and may have been creased at one time, lightly and only looks to be one time. Crease is just to the right of last eyeball. Still crisp. anything special? Anyone have a current premium on its value? 2002 guide to sm size paper money says $150 in CU.Thanks
Its from a run of 2.56 million so its not overly rare for a star note. Plus, generally to have a low serial number bring much of a premium you need to start with at least 4 zeros...and you really don't see good premiums 5. Also, the bank stamp...although interesting is basically damage...its the equivalent of being a problem coin. On top of all of that, its a $100 bill which are generally really hard to move. So, I'd say its not worth keeping IMHO. Its a neat find, but I'd spend it.
I hate to say it, but yes, $100 is tough to keep when it would possibly never bring a large premium, certainly not near term. It would of course slowly climb in time, but with the stamp, Ritchie is correct, it will be linke a problem coin, and hold down anu premium. I keep every star i can afford! if $100 is not alot to you, i would keep it. But for me, i would have to spend it or offer it up to somone here aty face just to save it from dieing ini circulation!
i am not as rich as my tastes allow!!!! I will never spend a $1 * ... higher denoms are subject to how thick the bank accts are
