I got this in a lot of Mercury and Barber dimes. I didn't account for it when bidding. Anyone seen it? Any value here? I seen one sell for $32, others for less on Ebay. Below is just an example of one although the edges on mine looks more pink.
With all of the colors one might think Antarctica is a warm place. The fine print says something to the effect that they will refund the bearer $100 in US currency up to the date of midnight December 31, 2010 ... so it had a value up to that point. Having lived as long as I have something tells me there might be something not exactly kosher here about this offer ... could it be that the notes, though dated 2001, weren't actually released until after the deadline. Does anyone else have an opinion about how a note that sells for $32 or less could be exchanged for a $100 US, and no one is in jail for fraud?
I looked on their website and it says they can be exchanged but see no $100 denomination. I don't think these notes were redeemable when sold and the site where these are sold have "non-redeemable notes" from 2001. As I said it came in a lot of coins along with a $2 bill worth two dollars and Taliban aghanis that are no longer active currency. As I said though I didn't calculate them in when bidding, just wanted the dimes, Barber quarter, and 1884 V Nickel.
I checked out eBay item number 191573015073 where I could read the fine print. That's where I read the exchange rate and deadline. You might want to list those notes you don't want on eBay; maybe you'll get back some of the money you spent on those coins you did want.
Actually I listed several coins and sold for a significant premiums. I kept a few. The notes are just sitting there.
