My mom just gave me this little guy. I guess my grandfather bought it many years ago. It seems my father was the one who had it sealed in the plastic case. Ive looked around on the net and have seen different values put on similar coins but I wouldnt know how to grade it. I have no plans to sell it. Thanks.

I'd guess about $1300 or so. CC coins in general are highly sought after. Obverse looks to have some wear.

    very nice!

there are a few marks on it, but overall its a beautiful coin. its also from the carson city mint. gold is a bit different to grade but i am sure someone will be able to help you more.

i would suggest getting it graded and verified. there are a ton of fakes out there and a coin like this would benefit a lot from being verified by a tpg.

the cheapest i have seen this year sell for was around $750 and if i remember right, yours is in a lot better condition. unc they can go for over a grand.

but either way getting it verified would be your best bet. if in the future you decide to sell, you will get max value out of your coin. or if its a fake and you sell it, it would cause problems.(not saying its a fake, i don't think it is. but in hand it may look different.)

i have a 1901-S of this coin and they are great!

I would say you have a nice EF coin there! Can't really tell if it is EF-40 or EF-45, but the price difference is immaterial. Call it EF-40 and nobody will ever argue with you on that.

As for pricing info, a dealer buy price would be near $700 and retail sell price in the $850 area.

    A beauty - a keeper!

Yes, Virginia, we like gold around here...

EF45 for me, the coin looks pretty clean, mark wise.
