I've got a $10.00 gold piece from 1850. Cannot find any mint marks. Are there supposed to be any?

They were minted at Philly and New Orleans, Philly no mint mark, New Orleans an O.

    Welcome to the neighborhood, Massey!

If that is your last name, are you any relation to Mike Massey the pool player?

Sorry, no relation. Massey is just my handle. Thanks

Do you know roughly what the value is? I know the value is all over the place, depending on the person looking at it. Thanks

We'll need good pictures, taken in natural light, with minimal glare, on a dark background, straight on and not at an angle to tell you that.

The 1850 Philly coins were made with both a small date and a large date.
The small date is the most desirable.
Total mintage for both dates added together is about 291,000.
A dealer may try to give you $500 to $600 for it. But a private collector would possibly start at about $700 unless it is really beat up.
