Series of 2004-A with the serial number of CF69451884A. This is an error note on a newer note. The United States Federal Reserve System seal is not where it should be. The black seal on the left is printed much lower than it should be. The bill has been circulated and there is some minor handling creases but no folds.
Kinda looks spurious. I can almost make out where the seal should be, like someone erased the original seal and printed it lower to make it look like an error. I would have to examine it in-hand to be certain. What does it smell like ?
There is a magicians note (usually a $1 bill) where the bank seal has been removed from its original position, and via a printer, moved across the note to the right hand side. The effect is that of magically pushing the seal to the other side while onlookers are mesmerized.
Do you mind saying which auction house handled this note ? And can you furnish the original auction description ? Most larger, reputable auction houses would have had it graded and authenticated before the auction. It’s risky for them to sell it raw.
I spoke with them a short time ago. I’m sending the note back for them to check it out again. If they feel it’s good it will be sent in for grading. If not, they will take it back and give me a full refund. Did you also note that the F6 on the left side is also out of place? It should be under the serial number. On the right side of the bill the green seal is shifted to the left about 1/8 of an inch.
