:hail: Hello! http://img158.imageshack.us/img158/5346/mintseterrorxp5.jpg I wen't to a coin shop in Quebec city yesterday and bought 13 uncirculated mint year sets... one of them has this $1 coin... The pliofilm is NOT damaged, so it happened before it was packaged at the mint. What can it be, is it supposed to be rare and .. well any input is welcome!!! BTW that was a good day yesterday... Got my first Red Book and a pretty good magnifier.. Thanks!! Max
It just looks like damge to me. They are taking after their Southern neighbors Mint set coins always have some dings on them. It's the nature of the minting process.
Based on the current picture, I would have to say that it was Post Mint damage before packaging! However, if you can provide a close-up picture of the Dot and area around the "2", we might be able to make a more definitive analysis. Frank
:headbang: Okay, just tried some mix of zooms, magnifiers, lights, scanner, etc... and here is the best I can come up with... http://img66.imageshack.us/img66/6695/errcompos0.jpg Max
Max, It is still a little hard to tell for sure but it sure looks like Post Mint damage! It appears and if you confirm that the rim around the Dot is pushed upwards and slightly higher than the fields of the coin, then that is the case. Frank
Max, it looks like damaged goods. Not rare, it's worth a loonie. Given the opportunity, I'd show it to the RCM and tell them to get their quality control in order. hya:
Well Don't know about all this... There's no rim around it... just like it was supposed to happen.. but well.. Lets see in the future if anything comes up with it. Chances are small, I agree! Thanks all Max
