Picked from a family relatives drawer back then, a childhood OCD drawer crawler lol. This coin I always thought it is a shikel till recently I tried to find out what it is exactly. Everytime I googled shikel, old shikel, new shikel, nothing relevant till one time I got lucky and found a picture of this coin online with the title lira! Here we go, this 1 israeli lira coin had been the pre-shikel currency 1952-1980. I don't know hebrew. I showed it to a veteran coin trader in Egypt, he also thought it is a shikel. I think the confusion comes from the fact that shikel versions are old and new and those who own this coin might confuse it with old shikel. Just for not being a new shikel. I read two versions of this lira one with Magen David and one without. The one I have is without :-(
