1 gold dollar 1885

    UNIQUE 1 gold dollar 1885 with pictures (800 coins were made)

    Hi everybody! As u know, I found 1 gold dollar dated to 1885. Can u help me to learn more about this dollar and what is the cost of it. Thank u. Alo I know that only 800 coins were made at that time.

    Does it look like this?

    If so it's value is anywhere from $150 in heavily circulated condition to $5000 in gem proof condition.

    If you were to post good pictures we might be able to help you determine its condition and by extension its approximate value.

    I think he is talking about the Morgan Dollar.

    Or a gold plated Morgan of course.

    But i thought it would have been a gold $1 but there's no stars on the reverse of a $1 gold though is there?

    Or on a Morgan come to that!

    What was i thinking? I've been out of the US coin scene a while.

    There are 13 stars on a Morgan, but on the obverse. Eagle on the back.

    Yeah i know i just went over to the Silver Jar to take a look. I haven't seen one in a while.

    Okay i'm puzzelled as to what it is now.
