Came across this at my friends house and was hoping someone might be able to help with a little information or thoughts about this "penny" and where it might have originated. It is just about the size of a nickel yet weight is like a zink penny and appears to possibly be aluminum. I have not been able to find anything similar.
Thanks in advance for any and all thoughts

Texas Cent..... made by hammering between 2 pieces of leather.
Most of the time the copper will fall or peal off the zinc core.

Most likely your coin was squeezed between two pieces of leather or plexi-glass in an Hydraulic press. It/they are called Texas Pennies due to their size.

Probably the same thing of the guy that did this and made thousands of dollars.

Not an error of any kind. Altered. Not aluminum.

Wow, I learn something new every day. Why they do this? Most likely has everything to do with "Everything Is Big In Texas".
