$1 Bill Inking Error?

I got this bill back in change from a store couple of years ago & put it up in a currency collecting album with other currency I find with fancy serial numbers, possible errors, or an oddity that warrants further research. I've learned to keep & put up any coin or currency that catches my eye at first glance for some reason or another, which initially may not be obvious but as time goes by may reveal itself and become extremely obvious after a couple of inspections/good lookovers.

This bill falling into that category I initially thought this was probably a common thing to find whether it be an error or post BEP damage and I would be able to easily find a comparison and solve what's going on with this $1 bill.

Well fast forward 2 years later and here I am posting images of it because i have not even been able to find anything relatively close to what's going on with this $1 Bill &/or the cause. The only useful piece of information i've managed to find is I do remember reading somewhere that ink lines that are straight / evenly spaced / appear to be caused by machinery is a relatively good indicator they were caused by the BEP vs. Post BEP damage. Now this could be a person's opinion that I read or there may be some fact to it, that I am unsure of because every bill no matter the domination that I have found online or seen in person do not even come close to what this bill looks like.

So here we are. I invite all thoughts, insights, comments, ideas, or educated guesses, as to what caused these ink lines? However someone who has the actual knowledge, experience, or answer with 100% certainty as to what caused these ink lines is most preferred.

Is this post BEP damage or is this an actual error made by the BEP? Thanks in advance and I look forward to picking your brain & to your Insights.

I don't think so. Inking errors are usually large smears of green or black ink. These look like some kind of machine marks made outside the mint. Wait for an expert to confirm, but this is what I think.

I am in agreeance with you Michael K. What Peaks my curiosity is not being able to find a comparison. I really thought that would be an easy find and I could rule out an error fairly quickly. However for whatever reason that has not been the case. It actually blows my mind that I didn't find a hundred different images of the exact same ink lines all denominations of currency. So i finally just took the time and posted it because evidently this is rare enough that the only answer or insight I'm going to find is right here. So thank you to everybody you does respond and reply i really appreciate the sharing of knowledge given freely by many experienced collectors in the coin community.

Not an expert, but it looks like it was run through some kind of counting machine that had too much grease. In hand you can compare the texture of the ink with the black ink printed on the bill. I can't tell from the photo, but I'd guess there are subtle differences in things like texture, the way it reflects light, and even the color.

To me this looks like a bill that got stuck in a counting machine where the rollers spun at a fast speed, but the bill moved at a slow speed. The rollers probably released some rubber (or similar compound) onto the bill as they spun. Well, that's my story and I am sticking to it!

Are you sure it’s not damaged after it left the BEP?
