I got a roll of $1 Zachary Taylor from my bank on Friday. The roll they gave me looks like it came from the mint, it was professionally wrapped and not wrapped like the wrappers at home. All the coins are nice and shinny so it made me think they were from the mint. This coin is from that roll and if you look at the "L" in TAYLOR it looks like it was hit/scratched by something but I'm not sure if it was pre or post mint. I posted the clearest pictures I could get. Any thoughts?
Yep, looks like it took a hit. Even if it took a hit a the mint it would still be considered post mint damage.
There is a smaller hit bwtween In and GOD. These would be considered bagmarks. they happen when coins hit each other when dropping in the hopper at the end of the production line. They are not considered wear but do affect the grade of the coin. Not considered an error, just a normal part of the minting process Richard
Pictures aren't the best, but it MIGHT have a die chip in the L. As to the roll, Does it say US MINT on it? If not it is just a regular aftermarket roll.
I tried to take the best pics possible. I'm not a pro here, I don't have top of the line equipment, plus I am a sports card collector not a coin collector. I took so many pics these are the best ones. The others were way too blury. My roll looked like this one on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/2009-P-ZACHARY-...em&pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item414f0b6af2
