This kind of thing happens all the time in Israel.

It is less common here in California.

It's one of my favorite medals. I'm going to research the medal to find out what it commemorates.

It is a bronze presentation medal designed by Raymond Pelletier ca. 1964 and struck by the Paris Mint, 67mm, 5.79ozs./164.5gms.

I can only assume that your medal was struck before mine. Thanks! ~ Chris

That is every metal detectorists dream. Totally cool.

Like mine, your medal was made uninscribed, and the name was later added making it a presentation piece for that person. I have numerous French medals that were similarly produced, and a name was engraved or stamped onto it at a later date.
