I've been searching through hundreds and hundreds of $1.00 notes and surprisingly I've not found that many interesting notes. My coolest note is a radar C00388300C posted in another thread "my first radar". The oldest has been a 1981. Most same #'s in a row 5. 1 birth date "future" 07312008. Multiple satan notes, I don't keep them. 2 consecutive #'s. Very few crisp notes. 1 serial # misaligned. 3 off center cuts, top to bottom. Only three * notes, which I found a little suprising. Now the question, anybody else search $1.00 notes, if so how do you do in your searches? Do you find it really worth your time? Is there anything else I should be looking for? other than look for a new bank, around here the banks are not huge, they don't order from the feds too often. With all the cash deposits from the businesses the flow seems to even itself according to the bank manager. Any ideas are welcome, and feel free to post your finds if any. Thanks, John
Well, I don't get straps from the bank or anything like that, but, yeah, I check each note I come across. Found stars and Barrs but no very low SN's or radars. (I don't really look for radars though.) I find it odd that your oldest note found is a 1981. And only 3 stars. I usually find 3 to 5 stars per hundred ones. Maybe its a regional thing.
Been a while since I REALLY searched singles. Use to have access to a lot more that weren't mine but could be had for a buck. Still get the occasional pack though just for the heck of it. Mainly I find stars these days and don't keep them all as I used to. Rarely find any pre 1999 notes these days it seems. Not strange though as they do get destroyed. Can't really tell what your banking situation is but you could try other branches and/or banks outside of your town. Getting to know your bank tellers never hurts either. If they know you're looking they may set aside stars, crisp packs etc. for you.
Yup, been trying to, the new guy save a 1934c $20.00 note the other day for me, got another strap today and 1 * note, thats it. Thanks, John
do you look for web notes? those could be pretty rare too. also, look for bills with serial numbers 96000000 and higher. these were cut from an uncut sheet and are pretty rare to find. its sorta like finding a "proof" except it being a bill.
well John, before i joined the Air Force i was a manager at a movie theatre so i went through about $1000.00 in ones a day so that really shot off my collection of stars and low serial #'s. i collect anything 1995 and older. i now just ask friends to keep an eye out for stars, 1995 and older and low or weird serial #'. every now and then they will find me something and i will buy it. just tue i got a 2003* from the commissary. i say just start having friends help look at their money and youll be suprised of how fast they start poping up. chris
