09 LP2 Doubled Index Finger? Here it is... I just bought 10 rolls to search through and this is the first one that was really questionable...
This is an LP2 and not LP3. Also, if you bought OBW rolls, and especially if from the same source, you are likely to encounter the same varieties (or more likely non-varieties) over and over again unless the rolls came from different boxes. I still have rolls laying around from 09 and could tell you with near certainty what variety/varieties each contain, just from knowing which boxes they came from. Nothing is to say that all the rolls you bought came from the same box, but if buying multiple rolls from the same seller, chances are good. The point is that this is something you need to realize and consider if buying rolls to search. As for the coin in question, all I see are hits and possible spotting. If you've not done so already, go to doubleddie.com and you can search through Wexler's entire listings for the date. IIRC, there are well over 100 for the LP2-P, but many are very minor.
Thanks for the advice! I got the rolls off e-bay and i know that is a big gamble but when i got the box there was a card with the rolls... The card is J.T. Stanton's card(Co-Author of the Cherry Pickers Guide). Hopefully i will find something interesting in the rolls... they are all Lomis bank wraped rolls and im not sure if they are from the same box but i think they are... even still i got them for what i would consider a great price! Here is a pic with an arrow pointing to the area in question...
Have you tried checking coppercoins.com? You don't always need us in order to determine if it is a doubled die if you can match it yourself.
I see the anomaly in question, and it looks like a possible extra finger. I'm just not 100% sure it is.
Have you get checked the site I suggested? If not, the link is below. Simply scan down the listings and look for anything that looks close. Then taken the time to match, inc. markers. If you cannot find anything, yet are confident it is a variety, you may wish to send it in for attribution. I forget the cost, but its only a few bucks and the turnaround is quick. http://doubleddie.com/60701.html
I was just reading that page today - it's $3/side per coin (if both sides need attribution, then it's $5/coin. They suggest groups of 5 coins or less.
I took a look at that page but i didnt see one that matched it. Would you suggest i send this coin in?
