Has anyone ever posted something, then wished they could take it back? I jumped the gun a bit. Didn't have all the info.....Had to edit this post, but can't edit the title. LOL There is an article in the new edition of "The Journal" from the BCCS discussing a problem e-bay seller. He was purchasing 03 P and 01 P dimes adding an S, and selling them. Also purchased 13 D, 14 D, 15 D halves, 28 S Peace, and 1895 O Morgans altering them to sell the more expensive 13, 14, 15 half, 28 Peace and 1895 Morgan. The article listes his user name, I didn't post it here as I was unsure if that is appropriate. E-bay has pulled all auction listings. If anyone has recently purchased any of the above coins from a seller in St. Paul, MN, they may want to take a very close look. This brings up another question. After E-bay pulled his current listings, would they then go back and contact other buyers?
You can copy and paste an auction directly here, please do out the crook !! I'm not sure, but I don't think Ebay will do anything about past auctions. Your club could go thru recent feedback and notify buyers tho.
The seller's name is 'waaboos'. I could not pull up any of his coin auctions to paste here, though some non-coin material still lists in past auctions.
This was very interesting, Ilene Ribar of the Barber Coin Collector's Society found the bogus coins and notified eBay. Ebay then notified the ANA, who had the auctions pulled. Subsequently, the ANA did a write up, bragging about pulling the coins, with no redit to Ilene. Nice.
Ilene should have contacted ANA directly but if ANA knew Ilene was involved, they should have given her "redit" (credit). Ribbit Ps: "Redit" sounds like something a toad would say.
