The hole does reduce the value significantly as many of these were holed to be used in jewelry. I checked my catalog. Can't find it.
Nothing that pops out on this coin screaming fake but it'd be best to weigh it. I think $40 is a fair price for this.
You did OK at $15. Not too great, eBay has some very cheap once in a while but you paid under book.

Probably a blast-white coin that was retoned artificially (probably left in the sun causing accelerated toning).
Looks original. Being proof, any inconsistencies are easily visible. Color is fine too.
