I found this in my grandfathers coin collection. there is a mark on the edge where he must have filed it slightly and there is no sign of copper,...
I thought so too at first but with machine doubling, the edges are usually very sharp, defined, and also affect more than just two or three...
the doubling occurs on the word quarter on the Kansas piece and on the 1836 date on the Arkansas piece. is this machine or true DD?
