when i pointed out to someone about that little detail, they told me that 8's are accepted because on small face notes the loops are the same...
this site doesn't take into consideration that it reads the same upside down, as right side up though.

It does not resemble elimination to me, but I do not know what a lamination of the copper foil would look like. Honestly I've never heard of that...
usually when i see finning, the rim is normal and has that thin edge raised up above. the outer rim here is the same elevation of the normal rim....
if it were a MAD, it would be effected from start to finish or point to point. it would not leave an untouched area like that
