Are most of the "fakes" altered 1909 Philadelphia VDBs ? and how do they add the S mint mark.
And some of the fake coins are not as obvious as they used to be. The counterfeiter's are getting better at their "craft"
Personally I'm much more worried about fake coins than I am cleaned coins.

I agree on weighing all silver coins that I buy. That is the first test I do and I record the weight on the card I make for the coin.

LOL, don't tell the authorities but there's large flea markets and swap meets where many things are being sold and no taxes are being collected.
And don't forget sales tax, for California buyers that can be over 10%. At our coin shows it's tax free if you pay in cash
