It looks like DDD. Die deterioration doubling, It also runs down the left wing. The crack is also a sign of a tired or late die stage.
It is what is called a flared G and is considered a type 2 or transitional reverse. Here is a photo of the FG. [ATTACH]

I took another look, there seems to be some splotchy plating left on the rims.
Lets tag a few the 88 is interesting, it looks like it has a lustrous appearance and not dull surfaces that you would find on an altered cent....
What does the 88 weigh? It has the look of a missing copper plating. Also a photo of the third side will help. (rim)
