Without pictures your coin is most likely damaged and worth a cent.
Not all are silver,for 1968 some were 50% silver but a composition transfer that year lead most to that date and up to today made out of 99.9% nickel.

The doubled edge lettering is only known on the 2007(P)john adams gold dollar,keep looking.
