Can I see the ancient Romans? I just picked up a denarius of each Trajan, Hadrian and Antoninus Pius this month. I’m curious what you got?
Even in those days I don’t think it would buy very much. I do know in the early 1800s a beer cost about 5 cents. I would say the half cent back...
Personally, I’ve never been a big fan of half cents because they’re usually super dark and tiny and it’s hard to see the details and full design...
Usually the 1 oz gold Australian Kangaroo coins are the cheapest gold bullion coins. They can be like $40-$50 cheaper than a Maple Leaf. I trust...
How does it matter? If I have a coin that was 3.9 grams when minted and then clipped down to 3.6 grams then the coin weighs 3.6 grams which is...
Premium for a BU St. Gaudens is too high. Oh and usually the ones with lower premiums are worn and thus do not contain their original gold...
I’m curious if anyone happens to know if American gold & silver coins were ever clipped or sweated? Like has anyone seen any proof of say a...
I just got myself an NGC graded owl tetradrachm last month. xD No regrets! At least NGC does their best which is certainly better than my best...
Well if you think about it clipping doesn't affect anything. If a 4 gram coin is clipped and weighs 3.6 grams then the coin weighs 3.6 grams.
Yup Ancients are the only coins they don't guarantee authenticity. Their exact words: "NGC Ancients is committed to grading only genuine coins,...
I’m not saying NGC doesn’t have proprietary stuff. I’m simply saying I don’t think the weight of the holder is a part of that proprietary...
Well they could also do the opposite. Like someone else said I could weigh my Antoninus Pius denarius in a slab and subtract 3.55 grams from...
It has a less appealing design. They’re both 1 troy oz of gold though. It’s just that the AGE has a little silver & copper included.
Yeah but like..all a counterfeiter has to do is find a cheap coin in a legit NGC slab, crack it out, and weigh it to have access to that...
I don’t really have any coins to break out (maybe my 1955 PR67 Roosevelt dime?) but I wish NGC would just tell people the weight of an empty...
Ahh yeah my Athenian owl tetradrachm is in an oversized slab. I think it’s because it’s too thick for a normal slab. Definitely not worth...
Ahh ok thanks! I’m glad I wasn’t the one who paid the fee. xD Is there any way for me to find out the weight of the Trajan one without breaking...
It’s not the submitter who provides the information it’s NGC. I mean imagine if I submitted one of these coins and said it weighed 10 grams. NGC...
I just got my package of auction wins from Heritage Auctions and I noticed something weird. [ATTACH] Despite the fact that both of these coins...
Why would demand drop fast? If I recall correctly the 1986 American Silver Eagle has a bit of a premium due to lower mintage than later years....
