People just liked gold coins more than silver dollars or paper money back then people would pay a small premium over the face value for gold coins...

Those lines on the edge were caused by a sharp object to the coin or coinstar still just damage.
Just some die chips/extra metal and other neat little things worth 10 cents.

Your coin is the 2nd common out of the three but still a nice coin in very good condition for its age [ATTACH]
Don't clean it don't do anything to it I like its pinta for being 169 years old the way it looks makes it more authentic.
