[IMG] [IMG] [IMG] I was looking at the DLRC website and noticed this attractive 76-S Trade Dollar, type 2/2. I thought I saw something inside...
I agree.. old cleaning on the obv, with retoning. An attractive coin, priced below Numismedia VF20 retail, but I am too lazy to do further...
Really nice, on solid, non porous metal, very scarce as such! I'm not going to embarrass myself by trying to GTG, LOL, I'm terrible at old copper.
The lines on Liberty's cheek are from the "drawing bench" used to flatten the silver strips to uniform thickness prior to planchets being punched....
I don't see why it wouldn't go 67 if the luster booms. cool bonus if it's a new RPM!
30 seems about right.
I'll guess 40. sharp detail in the hair curl over the eye,and eagle's claws.
That shouldn't hold you back, just find one in vf-ef says a 77s or 78s that's already in a slab like the O.P.
Nice job if you got that for a lowball bid. Very attractive and by all appearance original. I could use a few accidents like that. Guess I need...
If it's cleaned that isn't apparent from the photos. I think the wear is c/w about a vf25 technical grade though .

I agree with 58; great looking FE cent!
and it looks to me like something has been "photoshopped" out of the left obverse field
I pitch my tent in the 30 camp...
Great looking coins, everyone! You all have an eye for originality.
You could out it as a fake even if the photos were blurred; it has a type 2 reverse which wasn't used until 1875....
That dig above the head looks like one of those "trefoil" test marks we see on trade dollars, just smaller.

Yeah, this one is kind of tough, partly due to the low xf grade so the doubling is hard to see. Usually you look for the ropes on the bale, but...
and a 77-P DDO. [IMG]
