Nice one , I got the canceled one and wish I would have gotten both . Just remembered I have to send Jim M the shipping charge that I forgot ....
I really can't see the complete obverse enough to tell , still a nice R-3 coin . But if you could take one straight on pic of the die crack it...
Hope this helps . It's Alan's site . http://coinzip.com/bustieguide/item.php?d=101 [IMG]
Could you give us some straight on shots of the whole coin for the obverse and reverse . The dot may have been worn off as it is a 104a .
Very interesting write up . Thanks !
I think you did fine , a decent price for a really nice example and an OGL slab .
Nice one , I thought it look like an L , even before looking at the reverse . Maybe @BRandM will know something .
The area just to the right does look lower , like it was a lamination error that broke off causing the "line" .
Got a pic ?
Thanks , didn't seem like the regular writing on most Roman coins .
I'd say that's what a lamination erroe on a copper cent could be . I'm thinking maybe a die chip . @Jim M or @Paddy54 would know .
I think he means the coins turned in the holder , or they look to be about 15 degrees off from obverse to reverse .
Sweet coin and write up . Now for a newbie question , what language is that on the coin , it sounds Greek ? Or maybe some Roman version of Egyptian .
A good book on the minting process is "From Mine to Mint" by Roger W. Burdette . I wish the pics and diagrams were larger but one can learn a lot...
Not dumb at all if the coin grades at least a grade higher , usually they sell a little under the next grade , but some ask the moon for them ....
They do have a gold bean , if they feel it's undergraded .
We can "guess" we'll just never know if we're right . ;)
Cool coins all right !!!!!
VF-35 Just a guess .
Rickie , you will be missed . I just wish I could express myself better , and wish you the best and my thanks for sharing your wisdom with us ....
