The '38 is indeed a Denver minted nickel.
I don't get it that the same posters who get their panties in a wad when somebody calls a one cent piece a "penny" call 5 cent pieces "nickels"...
As I've said many times before, I collect for fun, not profit. This coin is interesting, different, and an oddity. And I like coins with patina....
