Been trying for months to capture the true beautiful toning of this 1961 proof that bathad sent me many months ago. This is the closest to the...
AU. Color looks a little funky to me...
Get that sucker out of the cardboard and into some plastic! If that coin got a stapler scratch on it I think I'd cry for days straight!
I am definitely unfamiliar with the Trade Dollar design in terms of seeing doubling on it, but I am having a tough time seeing any clear notches....
It's a legitimate clip. Don't know what the cheek area is about, though.
It is mechanical doubling (MD).
It looks like a scratch on the coin...
It's not a defective planchet nor a striking error...die wear is a natural anomaly that occurs later in the life of the die.
I see no "line" across states, just die wear (die deterioration). Check out the site error-ref.com. It gives a list of all known error coins and...
Who said the OP doesn't want to listen?
I don't really see any error, looks like light corrosion around the reverse with some die wear.
That's downright amazing. Congrats on the coin.
1794 Flowing Hair. I do have a few Morgans, though honestly they really don't appeal to me all that much. They are a nice classic coin, but I...
Excuse me while I pick me jaw up off the floor. :jawdrop: How did you acquire that one??!?
Would you rather find the 1969 DDO with the worst case of road rash, or an authentic 1943 copper cent that has spent 60+ years in the ground, with...
I don't see any split serifs or notching, and don't really see any other evidence of it being a doubled die.
The coin was struck on a cent with an improper alloy mix ("woody"). Looks like the mintmark took a hit, I don't think it's an RPM.
Pictures would help us out. The 1969-D "no FG" is in the Cherrypicker's guide and could probably bring a nice premium if it is uncirculated.
Maybe not newly acquired, but newly shot...getting the hang of capturing better luster in my photos. This is a really nice 1909 VDB with great...
I am seeing extra thickness that could more likely be attributed to circulation wear rather than a class VI DDO...
