Ya.. Aidan is right.. be aware of forgeries... the best way to recognize as usual is the soapy surface...
Aidan, the 1939 1/4 Rupee and 1/2 Rupee coins are very hard to come by now and I think you'll see a revised rate in the new version of Krause......
very well said... :thumb:
The total mintage of these coins is estimated at 267,200,000. In 1925 and in 1930, they were minted in London too apart from Bombay and Calcutta....
yup.. even the half Rupee.. but not as scarce as the Rupee...
The 1939 coins are hard to come by ... especially in UNC..
I think most of the collectors follow their heart and not their brain... and me too is not an exception.. :p
spock, $15 is too much for me. These coins are very easily available and in UNC will cost around $2 to $3 here in India.. It might be a bit more...
nice bike, Ben..:goofer:
I know that exporting or importing of coins is prohibited in Iran. Violation will attract severe penalties there. :rolling:
:mouth: Aidan, that may be right.. Here, we usually recognise these coins by its tone and the colour of dirt in it... I dont think a silver...
Exactly... :D its okay now...:computer: I've edited it..
I've referred the Krause and its listed there under 'trade coinage' km# 718. I dont know what it means... Aidan, have you got any idea about this?
I've checked the Krause and it seems 1942 coins were issued by Bombay mint only..:computer:
so, two mint marks in a single coin?
Spock, the mint marks appear either below the date or below the lotus... :headbang:
spock... those are wonderful coins indeed... its difficult to find the empress coins in good condition.. Surprisingly, the Queen coins are easier...
Good question... I was also wondering about it.. The mint marks are essentially found below the date.. but the dot below the head? Its definitely...
I feel a bit fishy about this ebay item......
