Most people on here suggest starting with ASE's. I too recommend that. Get a roll, don't buy them individually. A roll will cost about $400 today. Junk silver is a good investment too. But if you are just starting out, it is safer going with ASE's until you learn more about PM investing. People here like a company called Providentmetals. I do all my buying locally from dealers. It's good to be in a large metropolis such as Chicago.
