Like many, my older brother and I began collecting with Whitman albums in the early '60's. We liked to go to the West Toledo Coin Shop in downtown Toledo, Ohio. Those were the days when shops still displayed most of their full inventory, so it was captivating for a kid.
Unfortunately we did not continue with the hobby past the early '70's. However in 2016 as I began to research family history I realized that putting together an early U.S. type set would be a nice goal. With the increased online ability to discover details about 1700's and 1800's ancestors early coins take on more meaning! I have always liked preserving stories for future generations and coins are a tremendous asset in this.
