Is there any chance this is not artificially toned? Please, a simple yes or no will suffice. I'm not trying to start a thread about NT vs AT coins, or how you should always buy slabbed coins, etc...
Good question. I should have mentioned in my original post that I would like to know what are the dead giveaways that this coin is artificially toned. It's a weird thing, because technically, even natural toning is somewhat artificial, because it occurs (for the most part) due to being in contact with man-made materials(mint bags, sulphur envelopes, albums, etc). So at what point does it stop being artificial and become natural? Beats me! Didn't I say in my OP that i didn't want to get into this? Dang..
NT coins generally come in certain patterns, i.e. crescent toning, target toning, tag toning, textile toning, etc. When you see coins that have cartoon-like rainbow colors with no discernable pattern, they are likely to be AT. Many AT coins also have distinctive smells, as a result of the use of chemicals.
It's easy. Intent! now all you have to do is prove it! not so easy. Buy the coin because you like it and be happy with it! I like the painted oSama coins.. I think they are purty!
The fact that the coin looks circulated along with the crazy toning pattern that matches on both sides but doesn't fall within normal color sequences of NT toning....are other clear tell tale signs that the coin in question is AT. If you type in rainbow on Ebay you will see hundreds of raw circulated AT coins that look nearly identical.
