When I spoke on "The Origins of Coinage" in Cleveland in 97, I was dressed in authentic gear I made myself, chiton, peplos, felt cap. Lots of people came to see the man in a dress. When I did the same topic in Cincinnati in 98 (20th century garb), there were four people in the audience because I brought one of my own. ... I have no sympathy with collectors of American type cracking out their overdipped Morgans for an upgrade and chasing corn leaves with an extra line. Ancients are only for the truly enlightened. They are few and far between. Be grateful for the four. (Unless, like, you know, did you bring any of your own?)
You probably ad libbed a lot of this, apart from your notes. Nice set of slides. You gotta do the same for one or a hundred. Been there.
