I have been working out of state down south and found these 5 S Morgans in a presentation holder marked Capital Plastics at a fleamarket. Someone thought it was a good idea to put these mint state sharpies in a holder for presentation for some reason, I am glad they did. Cost $175.00 Bucks. Check em out let me know what you think. The others are 1879, 1880, 1881, & 1882-s. Steve
that's a beautiful set! the holder is cool too. I remember a similar holder sold in the 1960's (not sure if your holder is from that era or not)
Thanks - the pics are sufficient. I was hoping you had a nice high grade example there, alas you do not.
GDJMSP How did I already ready know you would dislike the coin. Can you point out a coin you do like, Id love to see it! Steve
It's not that I don't like it, I like it fine. I was merely hoping you had gotten lucky and had a nice high grade example there. The original pics did not show it well enough to tell, that's why I asked for some others. The coin would probably grade 64. But the early S coins are easily found in that grade, there are huge numbers of them. But every now and then a really nice one shows up. By really nice I mean 66 or 67. Like I said, I just hoping you had gotten lucky.
I dont Know GDJMSP, I would really like if you put me on the notification list for a coin you like, I would love to take a gander at it. Steve
nice morgans i've noticed that mostly all morgans/peace dollars are still in good condition why is that? they didn't circulate much in those early days?
Take a look at my albums here on CT sometime - I liked every one of those. edit - and you can try this one http://www.cointalk.com/t130347/
Doug, I checked out your albums and your coins are stunning...Top shelf all the way through. I would love to know what that gold coin marked, Liberty year 2000 obverse & Peace at the bottom of the Reverse is about. Couldnt take my eyes off it. Steve
It's not gold. That was one of the final designs submitted by private mints to the US Mint for the small dollar. The Sacky won and that one lost.
