Not an expert on double die coins, but I do tend to avoid bidding on any auction that uses exclamation points on more than one sentence per paragraph, lol... especially if any single sentence uses more than one...
This coin may be worth between 500-1000 dollars IMO, because it is a rare date, but there is no way it is worth 200k IMO regardless of the VAM.
Oh, I've got an extra $200,000 laying around the castle. So, instead of buying another island, I think I'll blow it on this coin. Now, where is that $200,000...? I must have left it in my other suit...
Anyone with that much disposable income, and that little fiscal sense, I agree with the seller... get it while it's hot
One heavily cleaned coin with a side of face damage? Want fries with that? Your total will be $200,002.34 Please drive up to the 2nd window.
Hi, I don't think twice about contacting a seller with a question. My question..."This is a Joke, Right? Thanks, Bill Let's see if I get a response. Bill
Lol, great question! If it's not a joke, he must have never heard of a VAM, and if he ever does, he just may be embarrassed!
Hi, So far I've gotten some lame responses from him. To make a long story short, he says he broke the coin out of an ANACS slab. It did not have the Doubled Die listed on it. He said he called and spoke to the grader who remembered the coin and said that since this "VAM" was not listed, it couldnt be noted on the slab (YEAH RIGHT) ! He said the slab graded the coin as VF-20 damaged. Don't go away folks it gets deeper He says he's an attorney and only listed the buy it now price as $200,000.00 so the coin doesnt sell. He wants to "obtain offers" before he decides whether or not to send it to Heritage Auctions or sell the coin to any offer over $1000.00. I told him that this was against Ebay rules and he has not responded back yet. He then said that lighting is why the coin looks shiny and scratched on the reverse. Still looks "whizzed" to me. Oh by the way, he also wanted to be sure I knew that he was an attorney and didn't need the income from the coin. Do the words CHUMP and SCAM come alphabetically in your Funk and Wagnalls? Have Fun, Bill
I looked at this guys feedback. He had only 2 YES 2 (TWO) transactions as a seller, the rest were as a buyer. Guess which two transactions had the negative feedbacks? Yep, you got it! complaints about both of his sales to others. Gad Zukes!! Thanks, Bill
Not trying to defend this creep, but whose feedback are you looking at? >>dad_and_son_coin_venture<< has 15 positive and 1 neutral feedbacks from buyers; and only 1 negative (out of 238 entries), from a seller involved in a beef about S/H.
Hi, There may be a few more than 2 transactions where he was the seller, but I think you are reading his feedback backwards. Most of his feedback refers to him as being a good buyer. Not a seller. Also, I read through his feedback, not just that little summary page you linked to. Go to the item and click on the link for his feedback and read them, you'll see what I mean. Bill
Holy Cow is exactly right You have to admire the imagination of these selllers and the stupidity of the buyers
Did they recently lower it to 20,000 dollars or was it just misread as 200,000 dollars? Now I don't want to see all of jump on this coin now because of the 180,000 dollar discount.
