but you didn't posit your own thoughts as to it's value did you? you expected others to wager theirs first.
What is the real deal with you Krispy? What's really bothering you, why are you being so petty? I posted the question thinking someone knows the answer off the top of their head!
Petty? Put some thought into your posts fret. You're not a newbie here nor are you new to the hobby. Darned near every thread you start asks the same: what do I have? does anybody know what I have? what's it worth? what will PMs do?... It gets tiring especially when thoughts, resources, links, book titles and the like have been posted many times in the past, freely shared as you expect them to be, but aren't heeded. To show up with a "me too" post in anothers thread is pretty selfish of you fret and it doesn't earn much respect from me in the least bit since it doesn't impart even the slightest notion that you care to offer your own insights let alone show you've researched past posts that have answered such questions, posts that are available to you if you'd only stop and read what's out there on the topic before expecting a customized reply with all the details easily worked out for you. I'm sorry for you if you fail to understand this or the nature of my irritability given your post and subsequent replies. Happy collecting.
Well happy collecting to you as well! This is an open forum and you know as well as I do that anyone can ask pretty much anything they want to. I don't know what I did to irritate you so much with a simple question. I know absolutely nothing about paper money and I simply wanted to know if it's worth it to list the bills on ebay. Nothing more.
I don't sell notes on eBay, BUT it's not a bad idea to type in the year, and the word "star" of your note and compare what comes up to what you own. If you have a common note, and it's not at least CH-CU, or a fancy serial number, then I wouldn't waste your time and selling expenses to try and sell the note at auction. Common star notes in UNCIRCULATED condition barely do well in this down economy. I've found it recently to be a BUYERS market in the field that I collect.
Y'all need to chill out he simply asked a question Krispy the main reason I'm on here is to ask questions!
Questions are fine, great, fun and wonderful to see and respond to... however, laziness is inexcusable. Fret has been helped countless times and knows his way around the forum and the internet (or a book store) to be able to help himself, nearly as much as members have indulged you in the short time you've been here. And, I don't think you are qualified to pass out the chill pill.
Alright Krispy, you can get over yourself now! You have your opinion and I have mine! Last time I checked your just an average person on this forum and nowhere near a moderator. I hate to say it but I think your over zealous attitude has more with the past and really has nothing to do with my question at all. I'm gonna show you how to walk away from something and you can banter back and forth by yourself. This whole thread directed to make me look like an idiot was done b/c of the below link. You can deny it if you want buy the public is smarter than you think. Your example of pettiness is beyond words. http://www.numissociety.com/showthread.php?951-Contest-for-newbies!!!/page3
It wasn't an opinion fret, you simply don't try to answer your own inquiries! ...and from your repeated posting to the contrary, I can see you still don't get the point of my posts as you still haven't given any thoughts about what you think your star notes are worth or how they'd grade. My point addressed the problem of your "question" and the general laziness people allow of themselves to not figure things out on their own. I've helped you a number of times in the past but you don't even show the least bit of attempt to figure things out on your own. At least try to share what you think the note is worth or might grade, up to the point you can't, which is when you seek help, unfortunately in your case that's about every other day that you come calling on CT for assistance with something you can't even do the most basic or research on: [1] [2] [3]... these examples for you are many! Additionally, cross directing to the other forum discussion will only point to your woefully miserable contest on NS. Good luck finding sympathy for the complete sham of a contest you held then ruined by breaking your own rules for. You couldn't even keep your patience at bay and declared an erroneous winner too early. As far as it's concerned fret, you have redirected this thread today towards yourself and continue to do so by linking to the other forum. NumisSociety is the last place you will find answers to your questions let alone a place for discourse to stay on topic. I've experienced you and your buddies running a muck of threads there. It doesn't take a moderator to figure this stuff out and I really do not desire to be one either. You simply need to take a step back, exert an effort to figure out your inquiry, and resist the endorphin rush you get running for your camera and posting because you have something remotely similar to share but no clue what you even possess! I've tried to help teach you how to fish but you keep asking to be fed rather than cast the line yourself. Think about it. :thumb:
Just some thoughts concerning the topic of star notes for higher denominations, I think that is on topic, tangentially. I have read much about the coins I seem to be enamored of lately, mainly half dollars. An interesting thing about them to me is that at one time in the hobby half dollars were considered a high ticket item and something that most people could not afford to save. Banks at one time had half dollars as reserve currency, Barber halves were either circulated to pieces or hardly saw the light of day outside of a bank vault. I picked up a 50 dollar star note at the bank the other day, it was probably the paper equivalent of a vf-20 coin. I shopped it at a couple of dealers who both told me that THE FEW collectors that collect those higher denomination star notes, are picky enough to not purchase anything lower than choice uncirculated bills. My muse is that today will someday be the long gone past, 50 dollars today might be similar to 50 cents a hundred and fifty years ago. In that case, if you can swing it, it might be worthwhile long term to save those higher denomination star notes. You might not ever see a return on them, but your grandchildren might someday.
